Christen Cooper, MS, RD earned her Master's degree in Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University (New York, NY) and completed her undergraduate work at Wellesley College.
She is a Registered Dietitian with experience in clinical nutrition counseling, nutrition lectures and workshops, as wel as nutrition curriculum, writing and research.
Ms. Cooper serves on the Advisory Board of SuperKidsNutrition.com, a website devoted to the improvement of children's nutrition through better knowledge, parental involvement and hands-on food experiences.
Ms. Cooper has served as project coordinator for Linking Food with the Environment (LiFE), an environmental nutrition curriculum developed at Teachers College, Columbia University, and taught in some New York City public schools.
She provides nutrition consulting to a wide variety of clients, such as the Office of the New York State Attorney General,Red Rabbit Lunchbox, The Head Start Program, The Boys & Girls Clubs, Northern Westchester Hospital, and Healthy Kids Now.
Ms. Cooper has published articles on food and nutrition in a number of publications. Most recently, she has written for Today's Dietitian and New York Metro Parent, and her pieces have been included in literature for the American Dietetic Association, the Promise Institute, the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program, and others.
Ms. Cooper has worked with renowned New York nutritionist, Joy Bauer, and has experience counseling patients at Greenwich Hospital (Greenwich, CT), and has coached elite athletes on nutrition.
Currently, her research focuses on the influences of the home, school and outside environment on children's food choices, and the poor nutritional status and premature bone loss among several low-income populations.
Prior to working as a nutritionist, Ms. Cooper served as a legislative aide for women’s health care at the U.S. House of Representatives. She has also served as senior project manager at a management consulting firm based in New York and São Paulo, Brazil.
